Questions I Get All the Time

After producing drone tours, photography, and video content for clients across real estate, commercial real estate, industrial facilities, retail spaces, and construction companies, a handful of questions come up almost every time a new client reaches out. Here are the most common ones, with straight answers.

Do you handle FAA authorization?

Yes. As an FAA Part 107 certified commercial drone pilot, I handle all airspace authorization as part of every production. This includes checking controlled airspace near airports and urban centers, filing the appropriate authorizations when required, and ensuring every flight is legal and compliant before we get on site. You do not need to worry about this. It is part of what you are paying for.

How far in advance do I need to book?

For most productions, one to two weeks of lead time is sufficient. For larger multi-location campaigns or productions that require significant airspace coordination, two to three weeks is better. If you have a tight timeline, reach out anyway. I will tell you honestly whether we can make it work.

What happens if the weather does not cooperate on shoot day?

Weather is always a factor with drone production, especially for exterior shoots. If conditions on the scheduled day are not safe or suitable for the quality of footage you need, we reschedule. I would rather push a shoot by a day or two than deliver footage that does not serve your project. We stay in communication around the weather leading up to every production day.

  • Drone flights are grounded in winds above certain thresholds, heavy rain, and low visibility conditions.
  • Interior FPV productions are weather-independent, making them reliable even in unpredictable Midwest conditions.
  • Rescheduling due to weather is handled at no additional cost to the client.

More Questions Worth Answering

What is the difference between FPV and gimbal drone footage?

Gimbal drones produce smooth, stable aerial footage ideal for real estate tours, commercial overviews, and facility showcases. FPV drones are smaller, faster, and designed for immersive, continuous fly-through footage that simulates the experience of moving through a space. FPV is ideal for interior tours and situations where the footage needs to feel alive and kinetic rather than smooth and composed.

Do you deliver raw footage?

Deliverables are edited and ready to deploy unless a client specifically requests raw files for their own post-production team. Edited deliverables are formatted for web, social, and any platform-specific requirements you have. If your team wants to edit in-house, we can discuss a raw file package as part of the production scope.

How long does delivery take?

For most productions, edited deliverables are ready within 48 hours of the shoot. For more complex productions involving multi-day shoots, voiceover, or custom motion graphics, timelines are discussed upfront during the project scoping process. Fast turnaround is a priority for every production, particularly for real estate clients who need to launch listings quickly.

"The best shoots are the ones where the client knows exactly what to expect going in. That starts with asking the right questions."
